"You can't be serious!" Cletus paused with his spoon of cereal halfway to his mouth. Normally it wasn't a good sign when Divius sounded this upset. But apparently today Cletus wasn't the one to invoke his wrath, for in the kitchen there was still no sign of his adoptive father. Besides, he had resolved not to feel all that intimidated anymore. After all, he was 16 years old by now and would probably manage on his own, should Divius stick with his threats and kick him out, though he would prefer to stay. Cletus checked himself in the mirror again and smoothed his eyebrows. He had gotten up earlier than usual today, so he'd have enough time to adequately prepare himself for the funeral. He had washed his hair and styled it with hair gel according to the latest fashion, but just as he was finished he had thought better of it, washing away the gel to start again. 9 years later "Oh, come on, Cletus. Or are you scared?" "This has nothing to do with being scared. I'm simply not a total moron." Two boys were squatting behind large flower tubs on the lower promenade. The younger one, a boy of about eight years, squinted his usually wide, dark brown eyes and frowned. "I'm not a moron either. Sometimes he wondered if ever there was an uglier planet than this one. Below him, a muddy green orb was turning lazily, adorned with lead gray hazes of likely poisonous gas. Neither the vibrant blue of clean oceans nor the luscious green of living vegetation or even the rich brown of fertile soil was to be seen. In short, there simply was no sign of life. And yet he knew of thousands, maybe even millions struggling to survive down there who rummaged around in the trash, constantly looking for the bare necessities to make it through the next day. The sun sparkled amidst the brightest blue the sky had to offer. The sea reflected the shining blue with flashing spray as if to partake in its joy. It made even the silver haired youth look up and blink into the sky but he didn't smile back. Riku's head drooped again and he dug his bare toes into the fine sand. Sometimes, when sky and sea united in such joy, he fled the garish sunbeams and took shelter in the shade of the rocky shoreline. Today though he faced the light. But taking sky and sea heads on all alone he didn't dare and so he settled on cooling ground, caressed it with his fingers and allowed sand and earth to soothe his mind. I

Anniversary

Because dA only informs everyone of the day I get a year older and not of the date that's much more significant for me: Tomorrow my husband and me have our 10 year anniversary! YAY! While it's not always been easy, we have stood together through good times and bad and I still love him to bits. And I look forward to the next 10 years with him. On a sidenote: We are celebrating on Saturday, so I probably won't be online then and I'll probably just drop in to check my messages tomorrow. Came in again to show you this. Anyone missed me?

No, I didn't drop off the face of the earth. I was on holiday and while the place we stayed was advertised to have free wifi, the connection was so terrible I rarely could get dA to even load. I once tried to answer a message and when I finished typing the connection was gone again. :( If you are still waiting for a comment or a reply - I'll try to catch up in the next days.
